"[A]s the teachings of the Savior are consistently obeyed, life will be beautiful . . ."
(Elder Richard G. Scott, "The Transforming Power of Faith and Character," October 2010 GC)
God's Handiwork
As I observe the world around me, I am astounded by the beauty of it. I often ask myself how one can see all this beauty around him/her and not acknowledge the hand of a Divine Creator in creating and preserving it. If you know someone who could benefit from an increased awareness of God's hand in his/her life, please feel free to pass this blog along.

Perfection
Because I am such a perfectionist and know how dibilitating this can be at times, I love finding Gospel insights into perfectionism. This quote is from an article in the January 2009 Ensign entitled, "Bipolar Disorder: My Lessons in Love, Hope, and Peace." No I am not bipolar, but the author has very good insights into how we should seek to reach perfection--through Christ, not just on our own:
"The gospel teaches us about perfection and the joy that comes with it, but some of us expect perfection of ourselves instead of seeking to be perfected in Christ. I struggled with the large gap between perfection and where I perceived I stood . . . I regained hope when I realized that although sin is an imperfection, not all imperfection is sin.
Believing that we should achieve perfection on our own, some of us fill our lives with crippling guilt and an unforgiving attitude toward our inevitable human weakness. We limit our potential for growth through a faithless, unreasonable approach to life. A better approach is to channel our weakness so that instead of filling us with self-loathing, it helps us find humility and strengthen our faith in the Savior. In partnership with Him, we can overcome our weakness as well as our sins. True humility will help us understand our worth despite . . . any . . . human frailty. It engenders confidence and a realization of the potential each of us has for good." (bold added)

"Be at peace within yourselves"
Elder M. Russell Ballard: “To
you who feel harried and overwhelmed and who wonder whether you ever will be
able to run fast enough to catch the departing train you think you should be
on, I suggest that you learn to deal with each day as it comes, doing the best
you can, without feelings of guilt or inadequacy. . . . No one can do
everything. When you have done the best you can, be satisfied and don’t look
back and second-guess, wondering how you could have done more. Be at peace
within yourselves. Rather than berate yourself for what you didn’t do,
congratulate yourself for what you did. . . . Remember, our Heavenly Father
never expects more of us than we can do.” (October 1991 General Conference; November 1991 Ensign)
